Brucellosis, a bacterial zoonosis, is a disease that is caused by the bacterial genus Brucellae. In humans, it's known as undulant fever or Malta fever, and it is a contagious, costly disease of ruminant animals. Brucellosis is an occupational disease for shepherds, abattoir workers, veterinaries, dairy industry professionals, and personnel in microbiologic laboratories. Diagnostic test for brucellosis remains an elusive target. The sensitivity and specificity of serological tests are not enough to diagnose Brucellosis. Adegradaition of patient case may occure due to False-positive reaction. B. melitensis is the most virulent and causes the most severe and acute cases of brucellosis. This investigation was aimed to isolate of p39 gene from syrian Brucella melitensis and compare it with p39 gene of the standered Brucella melitensis 16M . Among the results, this project demonctrated that there was complete similarity between the two p39 genes of the standered Brucella melitensis 16M and the syrian Brucella melitensis, furthermore, A complete similarity to the p39 gene of Brucella abortus was also recognized

البروسيلا جراثیم ممرضة مشتركة بين الانسان والحيوانات الأهلية، حيث تسبب مرض الحمى المالطية لدى البشر، وخسائر اقتصادية فادحة لدى الحيوانات. تستخدم الاختبارات المصلية التقليدية التشخيص البروسيلا، لكن وللأسف حساسية ونوعية هذه الاختبارات غير كافية للتشخيص النوعي للبروسيلا، مما قد يؤدي إلى أخطاء تشخيصية، قد ينجم عنها تفاقم المشكلة الصحية لدى المريض.وبما أن البروسيلا الضأنية تعد من أشد أنواع البروسيلا شراسة، وتكون حالات النكس مرتفعة نسبيا، فقد هدفت هذه الدراسة لعزل مورثة p39 المشفرة للبروتين p39 من سلالات البروسيلا الضأنية السورية، ودراسة مدى مطابقتها لمورثة p39 المعزولة من سلالة البروسيلا الضأنية العيارية Brucella melitensis 16M ، وهذا ما أشارت إليه نتائج البحث، من حيث وجود تطابق تام بين مورثة p39 المعزولة من البروسيلا الضانية السورية، والضأنية العيارية، وكذلك لوحظ هذا التطابق مع المورثة المعزولة من البروسيلا المجهضة.
