The research aims to study the implications of Syria's joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its impacts on the development of textile sector by referring to the threats and opportunities expected this accession. The importance of research returns to the fact that the textile sector is of contribution to the net non-oil industrial output ,  its share of the total workforce in the industrial sector and its share of exports.  The research problem can be summarized in the following basic question: What are the consequences of Syria's accession to the WTO on the development of the Syrian textile industry?  The research is based on three hypotheses: the existence of significant differences between Syria's accession to the WTO  and improved product quality , reduced costs, and development of employment in the textile sector. The research methodology  follows  the descriptive and analytical method of field study by distributing a questionnaire to workers in the textile sector, and analyzing data using the statistical program SPSS. The research has referred to problems of developing countries including Syria to join the World Trade Organization and its requirements and benefits achieved through the international trading system. As well as how to enter the textile industry in the WTO agreements of the Uruguay Round Agreement. The practical study has included presentation of the textile industry in Syria. The results confirms the existence of significant relationship between Syria's accession to the WTO and the development of textile sector.

يهدف البحث إلى دراسة الآثار المترتبة على انضمام سورية لمنظمة التجارة العالمية وانعكاسها على تطوير قطاع الصناعات النسيجية من خلال الإشارة إلى التهديدات والفرص  المتوقعة على هذا الانضمام, وترجع أهمية البحث إلى كون قطاع الصناعات النسيجية يعتبر من أهم القطاعات الإنتاجية غير النفطية سواء بمساهمته في صافي الناتج الصناعي غير النفطي وحصته من إجمالي القوى العاملة في الصناعة التحويلية ومن الصادرات. وتلخصت مشكلة البحث في السؤال الأساسي التالي: وهو ما هي النتائج المترتبة من انضمام سورية إلى منظمة التجارة العالمية على تطوير قطاع الصناعات النسيجية السورية؟ واعتمد البحث ثلاث فرضيات حول وجود علاقة ارتباط ذات دلالة معنوية بين انضمام سورية إلى منظمة التجارة العالمية وتحسين جودة المنتجات وتخفيض تكاليفها وتطوير واقع العمالة في القطاع النسيجي, واعتمد البحث على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي وأسلوب الدراسة الميدانية, وتطرق البحث إلى مشكلات انضمام الدول النامية إلى منظمة التجارة العالمية ومتطلباتها والمزايا التي يحققها للبلدان النامية من خلال النظام التجاري الدولي. أما الدراسة التطبيقية فقد شملت عرضاً لواقع الصناعة النسيجية في سورية, وأثبتت الدراسة الميدانية وجود علاقة ذات دلالة معنوية مابين انضمام سورية لمنظمة التجارة العالمية وتطوير قطاع الصناعات النسيجية.
