This research tries to deal with some of the names of the night and its attributes, and it talks about their meanings and implications, such as: Termesa, Alogbas, Aldijar, Marnques, Ekms, Hlecaq. Taktak, Oguetch, Ghaihab, Bahim and Ghodaf. The aim of the research is to link each name or description with its original meaning, so that words no matter what do they mean - in most cases - they can go back to their original sources. No one can deny the efforts of Ibn Jeni and Ibn Fares to the student of Arabic. The research chooses from the names of the night and its attributes unused words to prove that the rough, difficult and unused may come from the original meaning. The research tried to clear the hidden link between the words and the original meaning, exaggeration could be seen in such cases, and perhaps that justifies for the research its care to highlight some of the aesthetic aspects of the Arabic language and its accuracy of expressions, even in unused utterances.

يحاول هذا البحث أن يخوض في بعض من أسماء الليل وصفاته، ويتكلم على معانيها ودلالاتها، من مثل: الطرمساء و الأغبس و الديجور و معرنکس و عکمس و حلكوك و طخطاخ و أغطش و غيهب و بهيم وغداف، والغاية منه هي ربط كل اسم أو صفة بمعناه الأصلي، ذلك أن الألفاظ مهما تباعدت فيمكن أن ترد - في الغالب - إلى معنى أصلي تصدر عنه، ولا يخفى جهد ابن جني و ابن فارس في ذلك على دارس العربية، وقد أصطفى البحث من أسماء الليل وصفاته غريب الألفاظ لعله يثيت آن وعر اللفظ وعويصه وغريبه يمكن أن يصدر عن معنی أصلي، وقد حاول البحث أن يقف على تلك الصلة الخفية بين اللفظ ومعناه الأصلي، وقد يكون في بعض ذلك تكلف، ولعل الذي يسوغ للبحث ذلك حرصه على إبراز بعض من الجوانب الجمالية للعربية ودقتها في التعبير حتى في الألفاظ الغريبة.
