This study aims to explore how ready the Syrian universities are to build up the knowledge society through the following elements:

1- Human resources

2- Technology

3- The availability of the infrastructure

4- The fundamental operations on which the knowledge society is based

5- Knowledge society application in the administrative activities in the university.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study and test its assumptions, a questionnaire has been developed to collect data from the research sample which consisted of 100 members of the teaching board at Syrian University, the number of questionnaires analyzed are (95),representing(95%) of the questionnaires distributed. With the statistical tests used, the study reveals that the human resources and the cadres of the institution are scientifically and technically are well-qualified to contain and apply the requirements of the Knowledge Society at a good level, whereas the infrastructure available at the Syrian university is insufficient to build the Knowledge Society. infrastructure require development However it forms a good base to launch the Knowledge Society.

هدفت هذ الدراسة الى معرفة مدى استعداد الجامعات السورية لبناء مجتمع المعرفة ,من خلال دراسة العناصر التالية:(العنصر البشري ,العنصر التكنولوجي ومدى توفر البنية التحتية ,مدى تنفيذ العمليات الجوهرية التي يقوم عليها مجتمع المعرفة,مدى تطبيق المعرفة في العمليات والانشطة الادارية في الجامعة).ولتحقيق اهداف الدراسة واختبار فرضياتها تم تطوير استبيان خاص لجميع البيانات من عينة الدراسة المكونة من(100)فرد من اعضاء  الهيئة التدريسية في الجامعات السورية,وكان عدد الاستبيانات الخاضعة للتحليل(95),والتي شكلت مانسبته (95%)من الاستبيانات الموزعة. وباستخدام الاختبارات الاحصائية المناسبة ,اضهرت نتائج الدراسة ان العنصر البشري والكوادر القائمة على اعمال المؤسسة ,مؤهلة علميا وفنيا لاستيعاب وتطبيق متطلبات بناء مجتمع المعرفة بمستوى مقبول ,بينما وجد ان البنية التحتية المتوفرة في الجامعات السورية غير كافية لاعتمادها في بناء مجتمع المعرفة فهي تحتاج الى تطوير لكي تشكل قاعدة جيدة للانطلاق نحويناء مجتمع المعرفة.
