This research approaches the side of defining and indefining the adjective grammatically and rhetorically. I mean the side of the science of Meanings where it shows the effect of defining and in defining in the accuracy of bearing the meanings and reveals them. I prefaced for that with a quick hint about the term " definite" and the term " indefinite" and the respect in which each of them should be used then I talked its definition, its origin and its branch. In the respect of defining and indefining the adjective. Then I demonstrated the meanings which it refers to. I also approached the identifications between the adjective and its object in the respects of being defined or indefined and the grammarians, points of view about that then I approached the case of a sentence being an adjective (qualifier) finally I finished with the conclusions that the research yielded.

هذا البحث يتناول جانب التعريف والتنكير في النعت من الوجهة النحوية  والبلاغية ,أعني من جهة علم المعاني حيث يكشف عن أثر التعريف والتنكير في الدقة  في حمل المعاني وفي الكشف عنها ,وقد مهدت له بلمحة سريعة عن حد النكرة وحد المعرفة ,والمقام الذي ينبغي أن تقال فيه كل منهما ,ثم تناولت  تعريفه والأصل والفرع في تعريف النعت وتنكيره ,ثم بينت المعاني التي يدل عليها ,ثم تناولت المطابقة بين النعت والمنعوت في التعريف والتنكير وآراء العلماء في ذلك ,ثم مسألة القطع في النعت  وما تدل عليه من معان ,ثم عرجت على وقوع الجملة نعتا وختمت بعد ذلك بالنتائج التي توصل اليها البحث .
