| Abstract |
This study is a brief view on the development stages of Syrian Economy from the fifteenth of the previous century to the first decade of this century. This study considered mainly the development of manufacturing industry in private sector in Syria during 1990 – 2009 and its contribute to the Gross output and product of industry. The study involved two sub-periods; the first one is 1990 – 1999 and the second is 2000 – 2009, and some statistical tests have been applied for research hypotheses in order to know the impact of encouraging investment laws and their amendments and promoting the pluralism and the openness on the development of Gross output and product in the sector. Also, the study showed the most important conclusions to recommendations which may contribute to deepening the role of manufacturing industry in private sector in the economic and social development in Syria. |

| الملخص |
تضمنت الدراسة لمحة موجزة عن مراحل تطور الاقتصاد السوري من خمسينيات القرن الماضي حتى العقد الأول من القرن الحالي. وتناولت الدراسة بشكل رئيسي تطور قطاع الصناعة التحويلية الخاصة في سورية خلال الفترة 1990 – 2009، ومساهمته في الإنتاج والناتج الصناعي. وشملت الدراسة فترتين زمنيتين، الفترة الأولى 1990 – 1999 والفترة الثانية 2000 – 2009، وأجريت اختبارات إحصائية لفرضيات البحث لمعرفة أثر قوانين تشجيع الاستثمار وتعديلاتها وتعزيز التعددية والإنفتاح على تطور الإنتاج والناتج في القطاع الخاص الصناعي.
كما بيّنت الدراسة أهم الاستنتاجات والتوصيات التي تساهم في تعميق دور قطاع الصناعة التحويلية الخاصة في التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في سورية.
