   This research deals with the role of intonation as for speech through approaching the concept from the terminological and linguistic perspectives. The research also mentions the old views of schoolers who tackled and developed this concept. I have then brought up how intonation affects the poetry of Al Mutantbi through producing varied many meanings that can be understood from the context of speech.

    يتناول هذا البحث الدّور الّذي يؤديه التّنغيم في الكلام من خلال التّطَرُق لِهذا المفهوم من النّاحية اللّغويّة والاصطلاحيّة، بالإضافة إلى ذكر آراء العلماء القدماء والمُحَدَّثِين في هذه الظّاهرة، مع الإشارة إلى دور التّنغيم في تحديد معنى الجملة. كما يتناول البحث الأثر الّذي يقوم به هذا المفهوم في شعر المتنبّي، من خلال استعماله لِلأساليب النّحويّة ودراسة  معانيها الأصلية وخروجها إلى معانٍ كثيرةٍ ومتنوّعةٍ تُفْهَمُ من سياق الكلام .
