The study was conducted at the Kharabu farm (Faculty of Agriculture - University of Damascus) using 531 records of the Holstein Frisian cows during the period from 1982 to 2008.

The data were subjected to the General Linear Model. Contrast analysis was used to study the effect of the year of birth, the separation of the birth, the production season, and their interactions during the drying period. The Duncan test was used to compare the averages,

The overall mean length of the drying period was 76.88 ± 2.22 days in the Holstein Friesban cows at Kharabu farm. The results of the study showed a significant effect (P <0.05) year of birth, high morale

(P <0.01) production season, while there was no significant effect for both the delivery interval and the interaction of the factors studied in the length of the drying period in the Holstein Frisian cows at the Kharabu farm. It is concluded that improved care and management methods can shorten the length of the drying period and reduce the effect of the years of birth during the drying period, which will positively reflect the productive performance and economic return of the plant.
