   This research deals with the study of the phenomenon of repetition in the elegy of Abu Tammam by Khalid bin Yazid bin Mazyad Al-Shaybani. We have seen that this elegy is full and replete with the phenomenon of repetition, whether on the level of the vocabulary or on the level of style. We returned to this elegy and extracted the repetition in it, and studied it scientifically. We have found the poet Abu Tammam employing the phenomenon of repetition in his elegy for the purpose of emphasizing what he wants to convey and fixing it in the mind of the recipient. This repetition was rich and varied, from repetition of vocabulary to derivational and natural repetition, repetition of styles, and semi-derivative repetition. We have familiarized ourselves with most of these. The repetitions refer to a single linguistic root, and this indicates the poet’s ability to generate words from a single root, indicating his ability also to engage the recipient’s mind and enrich his style with diverse words. It keeps the recipient away from boredom, and every repeated word does not necessarily mean that it coincides with its repeated counterpart in meaning. Rather, every word carried a semantic energy different from the other, and this is what the subsequent study will show.                                                                                       

   يتناول هذا البحث دراسة ظاهرة التكرار في مرثية خالد بن يزيد بن مزيد االشيباني،لأبي تمام، وقد رأينا أن هذه المرثية حافلة وزاخمة بظاهرة التكرار سواء على مستوى المفردة أم على مستوى الأسلوب، وقد عدنا إلى هذه المرثية، واستخرجنا ما فيها من تكرار ، ودرسناها دراسة أسلوبية تعتمد على ظاهرة التكرار، وقد ألفينا الشاعر أبا تمام يوظّف ظاهرة التكرار في مرثيته لغرض التأكيد على ما يريد أن يبثه ، ويثبته في ذهن المتلقّي، وقد جاء هذا التكرار غنيّاً ومتنوّعاً من تكرار المفردات إلى التكرار الاشتقاقي والتجنيسي، وتكرار الأساليب ، والتكرار شبه الاشتقاقي، وقد ألفينا أغلب هذه التكرارات مرجعها جذر لغويّ واحد، وهذا يدلّ على قدرة الشاعر توليد ألفاظ من جذر واحد للدلالة على قدرته أيضاً في شدّ ذهن المتلقي، وإثراء أسلوبه بألفاظ متنوّعة تبعد الملل عن المتلقّي، وكلّ لفظة مكررة لا يعني بالضرورة أن تلتقي مع صاحبتها المكررة في المعنى، بل حملت كلّ لفظة طاقة دلاليّة تختلف عن الأخرى، وهذا ما ستبينه الدراسة اللاحقة.
