When measuring the differences in Elevation in the direct Leveling method for normal optical or digital leveling instrument, we initially calibrate the leveling instrument through the determination of collimation error.

A generally valid formula for the determination of collimation error of a leveling instrument using a minimal configuration is derived by two Staffs and two Positions only, be applied in all cases. Through this study, me see that it can be accessed with the freedom of choice for a distance of objectives to guide the vertical error value more accurately than is apparent in the reference methods, through a formula to calculate the standard Division of collimation error, by finding the formula of the impact of virtual Leveling error on the accuracy of collimation error.

Through the discussion that using a free choice of ranges, it has been inferred of a number of criteria to judge the choice of positions and objectives for the distance to reach higher resolution and smaller influence to the virtual leveling error than the reference methods.
