 This study aimed to know the role played by strategic information system in achieving the effectiveness of the organization in public banks operating in Syria. To achieve the objectives and testing of hypotheses a questionnaire was developed especially for the collection of data from a study sample consisting of public banks, the number of questionnaires analyzed are (118), representing (81,9%) of the questionnaires distributed. By using appropriate statistical tests, results of the study showed that there is a positive significant correlation between strategic information systems in terms of their variables (organizational requirements, technological requirements), as well as the existence of a significant impact relationship  of strategic information systems in terms of their variables (organizational requirements, technological requirements) in achieving the effectiveness of the organization.  In light of the results, a number of recommendations were formulated, the most important of which is the need for public banks to pay attention to the design of the strategic information system in a manner consistent with the developments of information and communication technology and software in order to adopt the applications of this system in providing managers with the necessary information about the activities of the organization and the external environment, especially in light of the challenges of competition and the entry of new markets.

 هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة الدور الذي تؤديه نظم المعلومات الإستراتيجية في تحقيق فاعلية المنظمة في المصارف العامة العاملة في سورية. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة واختبار فرضياتها تم تطوير استبيان خاص لجمع البيانات من عينة الدراسة المكونة من المصارف العامة، وكان عدد الاستبيانات الخاضعة للتحليل (118) استبانه، شكلت مانسبته (%81,9) من الاستبيانات الموزعة. وباستخدام الاختبارات الإحصائية المناسبة، أظهرت نتائج الدراسة وجود دور معنوي بين نظم المعلومات الإستراتيجية بدلالة متغيراتها ( المتطلبات التنظيمية، المتطلبات التكنولوجية) وفاعلية المنظمة، وكذلك وجود علاقة تأثير معنوي لنظم المعلومات الإستراتيجية بدلالة متغيراتها ( المتطلبات التنظيمية، المتطلبات التكنولوجية) في تحقيق فاعلية المنظمة، وفي ضوء النتائج، تم صياغة عدد من التوصيات أهمها ضرورة اهتمام المصارف العامة بتصميم نظام المعلومات الإستراتيجية بشكل ينسجم مع تطورات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات والبرمجيات بهدف اعتماد تطبيقات هذا النظام في تزويد العاملين بالمعلومات الضرورية عن أنشطة المنظمة والبيئة الخارجية خاصة في ظل تحديات المنافسة ودخول أسواق جديدة.
